"Landscapes Abstracted explores nature through that which is discarded and also through the human body. Both forms exist outside of nature but are also linked with nature, as is everything around us. My influence stems from the Group of Seven and contemporaries, but could readily reflect other internationally recognized landscape artists. In presenting landscapes with no trees, grasses, plants, soil, or any other components necessary for the land and nature, the viewer and the artist must question what the future holds for our planet's natural environments.
Will our treatment of the planet lead to a future where landscapes may only exist in memory, abstraction, and distortion?" — Gary Kohl
